With
Monesafe, the Internet's a Safer World
Last year, a reported 10 million Americans became such burdened users
who, after falling prey to identity theft, had to spend many stressful
hours and, in worse cases thousands of dollars, to put their lives back in
order. Of the consequences of identity theft, Johannes Ullrich, chief
research officer at the SANS Institute, a computer-security reach and
training organization in Bethesda, Md, made this observation: "All
of the burden rests with the user, who's probably the least able to fix
these things or recognize them."
In response to the problems, QFX Software developed Monesafe - a
personal accounts monitoring software - to help individuals and small
businesses fight online criminals. Emphasizing security, convenience and
action, Monesafe makes online banking safer for all users.
Security
Several features of Monesafe guarantee a greater degree of online security
for users:
- Anti-phishing:
It allows you to check a link against the the FDIC/NCUA database of
approximately 16,000 financial institutions in the U.S. If a link is
not found in the data base, you probably won't give out your important
personal information and therefore less likely to fall prey to
identity thieves.
- Auto Log in: With
this feature, you don't have to enter your password each time you log
in to an account, so your password is less exposed to spyware and
prying eyes.
- Strongly encrypted personal and financial data stay ONLY on your
computer and safeguarded with passwords. Even if a hacker broke into
your computer, all your data in Monesafe would be secure.
Convenience
Monesafe gives users the kind of convenience that is rare and invaluable
in life:
- The efficient interface enables you to perform nearly all functions
on the main screen: manage your websites and accounts, monitor your
account transactions, check details and history of an account or a
transaction, pay bills online, verify a URL, and so forth. Monesafe is
so intuitive you can get started in about five minutes.
- The automatic update feature saves you bunch of time and allows for
frequent monitoring of your accounts, regardless of the number of
accounts you wish to keep in the program - one or one dozen doesn't
make the least bit of difference. You can access all of them at
once, with one click. If you select Automatic Update Upon Login
on the login screen, you save even more time. Monesafe will begin
downloading in the background whenever you turn on your computer. You
can do something else on your computer and look at the newly
downloaded transactions at your convenience.
- Keeping a record of all your accounts (checking, savings, debit and
credit cards) in one place is a dream of millions of Americans. Should
anything happen to any of your accounts or plastics, the contact
information for the financial institutions is at your fingertip in
Monesafe.
Action
Your
money and your identity are important to you. Now with the security and
convenience Monesafe offers, you can take actions against thieves and
scammers. By keeping a vigilant watch over your accounts you can protect
yourself better. You are no longer passive and helpless.
Monesafe puts the power to protect your money in your own hands.

Protect Your
Debit Cards - They Are Expensive
There are more than 234 million debit cards in use in the U.S.,
generating more than $60 billion of sales each month, according to
CardWeb.com., which tracks debit data.
What is the significance of these numbers to consumers like you and
me?
In the first place, the larger the number of debit cards in customers'
hands, the more chances for losing them to identity thieves (who may steal
them or forge fake cards with the personal information they've stolen),
and the more likelihood of customers being scammed.
In the second place, debit cards entail much greater liability risk
than credit cards.
With credit cards, the customer's ultimate liability for fraudulent use
of a credit card is generally $50. But when a debit card is used
fraudulently, the customer's liability could be as much as $500 if he
fails to notify the bank within 48 hours after he learns of the
problem and even more if he fails to notify the bank within 60
days.
The thief who stole the debit card usually drains all the customer's
money out of his checking account. Setting the record straight can take
days and even months. In the meantime, the customer's life is in a mess as
checks to his landlord, credit card companies, or mortgage company bounce.
What can protect your debit cards?
None other than Monesafe, which is designed specifically to protect
ATM and debit cards, among other things. Look every day at the charges
to your accounts. With Monesafe it takes only a couple of minutes. Just as
you buckle up in your car to protect yourself in case someone runs a red
light, you use Monesafe to watch over your money in case someone steals
your debit card. During the holiday season, when we’re all out shopping
with our credit and debit cards, you know the thieves are getting greedier
and busier than ever.

When identity thieves strike: A Scenario
At the beginning, you might have felt that you had to do more than you
liked - you had to add your checking and three credit card accounts to
Monesafe, one at a time (though you didn't have to do it all in one
sitting you did it anyway).
But after that you were surprised how easy it was. You checked
"Automatic update upon login" the first time you logged on to
Monesafe, so every time you turn on your computer Monesafe will begin
downloading in the background while you do other things online. When
you're ready for a little break, you take a quick look at Monesafe to make
sure all the newly downloaded transactions are legitimate ones. Once in a
while you are alerted to a credit card payment that is due or low balances
in your checking account and you take care of it in a minute. Most of the
time everything looks fine and dandy and you sometimes wonder if you're
being overcautious even though you know that in the past year 10 million
Americans have fallen prey to identity theft.
Then one day you notice the red warning sign flagging a charge that you've
never made and your heart sinks. Taking a deep breath you click on the
suspicious transaction and then on "Contact Information" to the
financial institution that has your account. Someone in the bank responds
and says they will take care of the fraudulent charge. Relieved that the
problem is nipped in the bud before you've even received the bank's
monthly statement, you say to yourself,
"Whew! I wonder what would've happened if I didn't have
Monesafe!"
And you're finally convinced that Monesafe is a good thing to have, like
the seatbelts in your car and the secure alarm in your house.
